A 15-year-old girl has been seriously injured after falling off a quad bike in North Lanarkshire.

The crash happened near the new regional sports facility being built on the former Ravenscraig steelworks site between Carfin and Wishaw.

Police were called to the scene at about 1250 BST on Sunday.

The teenager was airlifted to the Southern General Hospital in Glasgow where staff described her condition as "serious but stable".
