A 13-year-old girl was left extremely shaken after being approached by a man in her garden in Glasgow, police said.

It happened at her home in Belsyde Avenue in the Drumchapel area of the city at about 1800 BST last Thursday.

Police said the "suspicious man" initially engaged her in a conversation but then started asking inappropriate questions. He left and she told her mother about the incident.

Detectives have appealed for help to trace the man involved.

He was described as black, possibly African, between 20-30 years of age, 5fft 10in to 6ft tall and of slim build. He was wearing a white vest top, brown knee length shorts, brown flip flops, and was carrying a Farmfoods bag and a Matalan Bag.

Det Con Ross McGregor said: "The incident happened during the early evening when a lot of people would have been returning from work.

"I would appeal to local people, who may have been near to Belsyde Avenue around the time of the incident, to come forward if they witnessed the incident or can help identify the man responsible.

"The young girl has been left extremely shaken by the incident and it is imperative we find the person responsible."
