A crematorium in North East Lincolnshire is opening its doors to the public for guided tours for a day.

Visitors will be able to see behind the scenes at Great Grimsby Crematorium, including where bodies are incinerated, at an open day on 12 June.

A North East Lincolnshire Council spokesperson said the open day would help people "gain an understanding" of what happened following a death.

Visitors will also be able to meet funeral directors and memorial masons.

The tours will include the book of remembrance room, the chapel, committal room and crematory.

A council spokesperson said: "People will be able to gain an understanding of the processes involved from booking funerals, to searching for information on graves or cremations, to burial and cremation.

They will also find out about the number of options available after a cremation or burial has taken place to remember loved ones."
