Jannik Sinner sparks concern from BBC Wimbledon viewers after
Wimbledon spectators have voiced their alarm after noticing a horrifying injury during play. It has already been an eventful tennis season, with both Jack Draper and Emma Raducanu withdrawing due to injuries just hours before they were scheduled to take to the court. The opening day, on Monday, June 29, will see Aryna Sabalenka and Novak Djokovic in action, while Men's champion Jannik Sinner faced Miomir Kecmanović on Centre Court.
During the third set of his first-round clash, Sinner suffered a nasty tumble, losing his footing and dropping into a split-leg position before hitting the ground. BBC commentator Andrew Castle remarked: "He looks like he's definitely going to need the trainer. We hope it's not as bad as it looked," reports the Mirror.

Despite the alarming fall, the Italian world number one hauled himself back to his feet and appeared to brush off the injury — though supporters have expressed grave concern after spotting what looks to be blood on his shoe.
One fan took to X to write: "Lawd that's a lot of blood coming from Sinner's sock and shoe."
Another posted: "MY GOD SINNER. I KNOW YOU ARE STRONG BUT THE BLOOD IS COMING OUT."
A third commented: "Seems like the fall Jannik Sinner took early really caused an injury, looks like a lot of blood on his shoe."
"Dawg is that blood on Jannik Sinner's shoes?" queried another, while a fellow supporter added: "It doesn't look like a spill pattern, that's almost certainly blood oh my god."
Yet another wrote: "Is Jannik Sinner bleeding through his shoe? Or is there some other way it turned red?"
Another observer chimed in: "That red stain coming out of the shoe doesn't look like strawberries to me..."
As Sinner continued playing, the BBC commentators discussed whether it was blood in Sinner's shoes or something like "ointment".
"That looks horrible," they said, adding: "It's getting worse as well.
"And it doesn't look like its affecting his movement, he's been charging around the court as we saw at the end of that third set tie-break but it is very bizarre to have something like that coming through the shoe."
Following Sinner's win in 2025, his first Wimbledon title, he told the BBC: "Only me and the people who are close to me know exactly what we have been through on and off the court, and it has been everything except easy."
He went on: "[It is] very emotional, even if I don't cry.
"To share this moment with my whole family here, it's the most amazing thing that could have happened to me."
Wimbledon airs on BBC One, BBC Two and iPlayer.
