Jewellery worth £15,000 is stolen from Dorking store

Antique jewellery worth at least £15,000 has been stolen during a burglary at a store in Surrey.

Thieves stole sapphires, pearls and diamonds after they broke into the shop in West Street, Dorking, between Saturday evening and Monday morning.

Surrey Police said officers were currently viewing CCTV footage from the town centre and store to try and identify those responsible.

The force also warned antiques traders to watch out for cut-price jewellery.

Det Con Vicki Morris said: "This is the third burglary in West Street this year and it is vital members of the antiques trade work with us to trace all the valuable items stolen.

"If you are in the trade and are offered items of jewellery for sale please be cautious as they may have originated from this burglary.

"We are working with the retailer and will endeavour to obtain images of the stolen jewellery so members of the public know what they are looking for."
