Katie Price and Lee Andrews have splashed out on a new pet just days after one of her cats died. The former glamour model, 48, posted on Facebook to celebrate the moment the pair became "puppy parents". But she came under scrutiny for her treatment of animals after a Sphynx died last week under her care.

On Saturday, the couple went to World of Pets in Dubai to sign paperwork for purchasing a Pomsky, a hybrid between a Siberian Husky and a Pomeranian. In the video, Katie said: "Just like we signed for marriage, we signed for a baby boy because we've got no kids. This is our little boy."

Lee can be heard saying in the background, agreeing with Katie and calling themselves "co-owners of this little baby boy". Katie put her signature on the paper and rushed off to "see her baby boy" in the shop.

The paperwork showed Katie and Lee paid 9,800 Dirhams (£2,021) for the new pet. Fans were stunned by the video as one asked: "She absolutely bonkers. Who’s gonna look after it when you return to the uk and you’re husbands back in jail?"

A second added: "I thought it was a rescue? You paid over £2,000!" A third chimed in: "Lost the plot!"

Last week, Lee made a confession in a fan-requested video on Cameo, in which he was asked to thank the fan for being the "best cat dad". He then revealed that one of Katie's sphynxes had passed away. He said: "I love dogs, I love cats, I love animals. So does Kate, so we share that empathy. She's got five Sphynxes, actually. One has just passed away. Sorry, eight Sphynxes, five dogs."

Katie also admiteed that two other Sphynx cats, Eileen and Doris, went missing from her home. She wrote: "I came to Dubai Wednesday and my cats were home Tuesday night, I live in a private area and my cats don't just disappear. Whoever has them, return them, they are my babies.'

She also wrote: 'My cat Eilleen has gone missing or stolen, please return her to Arun vets in Storrington West Sussex.' Katie shared the same message but with Doris' picture and name.

One viewer said: "Dreadful, huskies are far too much for you." Another was worried about the new pet, penning: "That's meant to be a Husky Pomeranian cross! Looks very big, how are you planning to take care of it with no permanent home yet?"
