Keith Urban and Sheryl Crow raise roof for flood relief

Country music singers including Keith Urban and Lady Antebellum joined stars including Sheryl Crow to help raise money for flood relief in Tennessee.

The singers performed and answered phones during a telethon in the US, which raised $1.5m (£1.04m).

At least 2,000 homes were destroyed or damaged in Nashville after flooding hit Tennessee earlier this month.

Urban sang an acoustic version of The Beatles' song Help, while his wife Nicole Kidman watched in the wings.

"We certainly weren't spared. Our place out in Franklin, we had quite a bit of damage out there," he told the audience.

He added that a lot of his musical equipment had floated down the river.

Sheryl Crow described herself as a newcomer in Nashville, having moved there five years ago.

"I've lived a lot of different places, but I've never felt home until I lived here," she said.

Nashville native Hillary Scott said: "I know we will get back to the city that we once were. I know we will."

The show was closed by singer Will Hoge, who performed Washed By The Water.

Country star Taylor Swift donated $500,000 (£340,750) to the cause earlier this month.
