The film, which premiered on Netflix on June 20, 2025, became the platform's most-streamed movie, garnering 325.1 million views. It swept major awards, winning Oscars, Golden Globes, and Critics' Choice Awards for Best Animated Feature and Best Original Song ("Golden"), plus four American Music Awards. Originally slated for December 31, the Criterion 4K, Blu-ray, and DVD editions will now launch on November 3. The Criterion Collection’s 4K, Blu-ray and DVD release of Netflix’s KPop Demon Hunters officially has cover art and its release date is nearly two months earlier than first reported.

Released on Netflix on June 20, 2025, KPop Demon Hunters went on to become the most-streamed film in the platform’s history in its three months of release, with 325.1 million views. Directed by Maggie Kang and Chris Applehans, the animated movie musical went on to dominate movie awards season, winning Oscars for Best Animated Feature and Best Original Song (for “Golden”) and won the honors in the same categories at the Golden Globes and the Critics’ Choice Awards.

KPop Demon Hunters’ award-winning ways weren’t done after the 2026 Academy Awards, however. On May 25, KPop Demon Hunters won four American Music Awards, including Song of the Year for “Golden,” which honored The Singing Voices of HUNTR/X: EJAE (Rumi), Audrey Nuna (Mira) and Rei Ami (Zoey). Arden Cho, May Hong and Ji-young Yoo provided the speaking voices of Rumi, Mira and Zoey, respectively, for the film.

Two days after the film’s big wins at the AMAs, Amazon listed pre-order information for the Criterion Collection version of KPop Demon Hunters for a Dec. 31 release, reported various outlets including Animation Magazine and KTLA.

Recently, however, the Criterion Collection’s retail page listed a new release date for its release of KPop Demon Hunters on physical media, and the disc set is coming a lot sooner than originally reported. As such, three different offerings are available for pre-order on the site for release on Tuesday, Nov. 3.

The 4K + Blu-ray version of KPop Demon Hunters retails for $39.96, while the Blu-ray version retails for $31.96. The Criterion Collection is also offering KPop Demon Hunters on DVD as well, for $23.96.

The features include a full feature-length animatic with a new introduction by Kang and Appelhans, a new making-of documentary and two video essays by film Taylor Ramos and Tony Zhou (Every Frame a Painting).

The 4K + Blu-ray Criterion Collection release of KPop Demon Hunters also includes lyric videos, an essay by critic Karen Han and collectible postcards of original illustrations by some of the artists who worked on the movie.

KPop Demon Hunters is the second of two high-profile Netflix films to be released as a Criterion Collection title this fall. A director’s cut of Guillermo del Toro’s Frankenstein — retitled Frankenstein: The Reborn Cut will be released.

Several KPop Demon Hunters items have hit store shelves in the past few months, including fashion dolls, role-playing items and other collectible toys, with action figures soon on the way.
