When it comes to film festival dressing, Kristen Stewart and Chanel pretty much go hand in hand. Over the years, the actor, director, and muse of the late Karl Lagerfeld has become known for putting her own spin on the French house’s collections. And last night, for her closing look at the Nouvelles Vagues Biarritz Film Festival, the collaboration felt even more meaningful.

Designed as a three-piece set, Stewart’s fit featured a black V-neck bra top and black-and-blue tweed midi skirt with a thick waistband and thigh-high slit. Layered on top was a matching jacket with chunky gold buttons, left open for an ab-baring touch.

The ensemble in question was pulled from Matthieu Blazy’s Cruise 2027 collection, which showed back in April in the same seaside town where the film industry gathered for the festival this week. Located on the coast of France, Biarritz was the site of one of the first Chanel boutiques, opened by Gabrielle “Coco” Chanel herself and credited as the birthplace of many of the house codes we still know today. The runway marked the first time the label ever held a show in the town, and this particular set was walked by a pregnant Kaya Wilkins.

Working with stylist Tara Swennen, Stewart traded the runway’s accessories for a pair of loafers and an ear cuff. Her wet-look micro bob and smokey eye finished things off with a grunge, cool-girl feel.

For the fourth year in a row, the Nouvelles Vagues Biarritz Film Festival highlighted the next generation of filmmakers and their stories. The international competition presented eight feature films, evaluated by a jury of artists under 35 and film students alike. Stewart served as the president of the jury.
