Meta has unveiled three new Artificial Intelligence (AI)-powered smart glasses, headlined by its first-ever collaboration with Kylie Jenner.

The collection is meant to keep you connected with Meta AI, capture crisp photos and videos, and deliver hands-free convenience with up to 40 hours of battery life.

You'll find three distinct frame styles to choose from — Meta Adventurer, Meta Fury, and Meta Glasses by Kylie. The US tech firm has also teamed up with EssilorLuxottica – the company behind Ray-Ban and Oakley – to create this new range with prices starting from £269.

Meta said in a statement: "Glasses are the most exciting hardware category of the AI era the ideal device to experience an all-day AI assistant that understands the world from your perspective. That’s why today, in partnership with EssilorLuxottica, we’re introducing Meta Glasses."

Not familiar with smart glasses? Think of them as AI-powered eyewear that blends style with functionality. Models from rival firms, like Meta, let you capture photos and videos completely hands-free, listen to music, take phone calls, and access information on the go with the hands-free AI assistant.

Meta's partnership with EssilorLuxottica builds on the success of prior models. They've worked with the French-Italian brand since 2019 to build two generations of Ray-Ban-branded smart glasses.

They're also much cheaper than its other newer releases. For example, the new Meta Ray-Ban Display glasses were first released in the US at $799 (roughly £604) and are expected to be released in the UK soon.

This new collection appears to focus on crafting frames with an emphasis on style. With a total of eight frame colours and four lens options, you're looking at 26 unique combinations in the new range.

For instance, Kylie Jenner has collaborated on a special-edition design featuring a slim oval frame inspired by her personal style. It's worth noting that Snap — parent company of social platform Snapchat — recently announced AR glasses with Kaia Gerber as a spokesperson, so this could be a strategic move among other brands.

On the other hand, the Meta Adventurer sports a clean rectangular shape that may be ideal for everyday wear. If you prefer a bolder style, the Meta Fury delivers a square silhouette that makes more of a statement.

Designed in collaboration with Kylie Jenner, these AI smart glasses feature a sleek oval frame. You can capture life in 12 MP photos and crisp 3K Ultra HD video, enjoy over eight hours of battery life (up to 40 with the case), and experience discreet open-ear audio with a six-microphone system. The Meta AI app lets you customise settings, share content, and unlock even more features on the go. These frames are available in black and a dark tortoise shade.

The Meta Adventurer AI smart glasses combine a rectangular design and a customisable, prescription-ready fit. Capture 12 MP photos and crisp 3K Ultra HD video, enjoy over eight hours of battery life (up to 40 with the case), and listen through discreet open-ear speakers with a six-microphone system. Use the Meta AI app to personalise settings, share content, and access smart features, including hyperlapse and slow-motion video capture.

To power these clever glasses, Meta is using its brand new Muse Spark model — Meta's first AI model built specifically for the company's wearable products. It works with the existing Meta AI, which is an integrated chatbot assistant that lets you ask questions, generate ideas, get recommendations, summarise information, and more.

For example, you can get information from World Cup football scores to restaurant recommendations nearby. The AI can also see what you're looking at, such as a famous landmark, and help give you more context.

To activate this, there's a dedicated action button you press to summon Meta AI, then ask your questions.

Its multi-microphone setup across all the new glasses is meant to pick up your voice clearly, even when it's windy outside. This could make it ideal if you want to take calls hands-free.

The AI's responses come through open-ear speakers built into the frames, so you can hear everything without blocking out the world around you.

Battery life clocks in at over eight hours, which means you could wear these from breakfast through to dinner without hunting for a charger. The portable charging case adds another 40 hours of juice when you're on the move.

You can snap photos and record videos hands-free, keeping you present in the moment rather than fumbling with your phone. Later this month, a software update will bring dynamic photo — a clever feature that captures multiple frames automatically and suggests the best shot for sharing.

To set up and use your glasses, you'll need to download the Meta AI app. You'll be able to share and import photos and videos, learn about new features, and manage your settings.

Pedestrian navigation is coming soon, too, offering turn-by-turn directions without needing a display.

Plus, the existing live translation found on its other models is expanding to 14 new languages, including Japanese, Mandarin, Hindi, and Korean.
