Lifeboat crews in rescues in north and south Wales

Lifeboat teams in north and south Wales have rescued five people in recent days during a series of separate beach incidents.

RNLI lifeguards in Swansea were called to Gower to help a woman who had fallen on a cliff path at Caswell Beach and a man who had collapsed at Langland Bay.

A father and son had to be helped to safety after they were blown out to sea near Porthmadog, Gwynedd.

On Anglesey a climber was plucked to safety after becoming stuck up a cliff.

The first incident on Tuesday involved a woman in her 60s who tripped while walking the cliff path and dislocated her shoulder. She was taken to hospital.

In the second incident, a man from Langland Bay required urgent medical assistance after collapsing.

He was taken to Morriston Hospital, Swansea, by ambulance.

On Thursday evening two Slovakian men were rescued after being blown a mile and a half out to sea.

The father and his teenage son were spotted drifting near Blackrock Sands at Morfa Bychan.

Members of Criccieth lifeboat rescued the pair before the dinghy floated out into the Irish Sea.

Earlier in the day an RAF rescue helicopter based at Valley in Anglesey helped two coastguard rescue teams retrieve a young climber from the cliffs 170ft (51m) up at South Stack, near Holyhead.

The man had been secured to a 215ft (65m) cliff a few miles from the airbase, and his plight was spotted from a small boat. He was recovered without injury.
