Three people were rescued within 40 minutes of each other when two vessels sank off the Dorset coast.

The Swanage RNLI inshore lifeboat was called on Sunday at 1915 BST following reports a dinghy was sinking in Swanage Bay.

When they arrived the person was being rescued by two others on an inflatable sausage, coastguards said.

At 1958 BST, coastguards received a Mayday call from a speedboat sinking in Poole Harbour with two people on board.

The RNLI inshore lifeboat from Poole went to the scene where they found the boat taking on water faster than the pair could bail it out.

The boat and its occupants were taken to Baiter Point where they were met by coastguards.
