Listed buildings in Lincoln could become apartments

Two buildings in Lincoln's cathedral quarter could be converted into homes under plans submitted to the council.

The buildings, on Upper Lindum Street, are currently used by Lincoln Minster School, but could now be converted into 29 apartments.

The plans, submitted by the Company Collective Ltd, claim the conversion would secure the maintenance and long-term use of the buildings.

The applications will be determined by the City of Lincoln's planning department at a later date.

According to the Local Democracy Reporting Service, both buildings had been put up for sale for £750,000 each but now appear to have been withdrawn from the market.

Watkins Hall, a Grade II listed building, was built in 1884 for Lincoln Grammar School and is currently being used as a hall and drama studio by Lincoln Minster School.

Hillside House is a pair of listed town houses that were converted into accommodation for boarding pupils.

The plans outline four single-storey extensions to Hillside House and a detached coach building nearby.

The submitted plans state: "The residential conversion will secure the continued occupation, maintenance and viable long-term use of the buildings, reducing the risk of deterioration associated with vacancy or underuse."

The buildings would be divided into a total of 18 one-bedroom apartments,10 with two-bedrooms and one with three-bedrooms.
