Llangollen shooting no longer a 'criminal case'

The case of a man found with a gunshot wound is no longer being treated as a criminal inquiry, says North Wales Police.

The 46-year-old suffered serious injury and had surgery following the shooting in Llangollen, Denbighshire, on 19 May.

Det Insp Iestyn Davies said detectives were not looking for anyone else in connection with the investigation.

The man remains in a stable condition in hospital, and is helping police with their inquiry.

Det Insp Davies said: "Following an extensive police investigation in relation to the shooting incident in Llangollen on Wednesday, 19 May, North Wales Police are no longer treating this as a criminal inquiry and they are no longer looking for anyone else in connection with the investigation.

"We are now satisfied that the weapon used in this incident has been recovered, and is still subject of a forensic examination.

"The response of the public following the appeals has been of benefit to the investigation and we are thankful to all those who came forward."

Police recovered a firearm following the incident, which was forensically examined.
