Man accused of house pipe bombing
A north Belfast man accused of attacking a neighbour's house with a home-made pipe bomb has been remanded in custody.
Kevin Martin Vernon, 37, of Woodland Avenue, is charged with making and possession of a bomb with intent to endanger life and causing an explosion.
The offences are alleged to have occured on 13 June.
A detective constable told the court the allegations arise from a "serious feud" between two families.
"I believe the fact that he has taken his time to make a big bomb would cause grave concern to police," the detective said, adding that he believed the accused posed a "serious risk to the public".
Mr Vernon will appear in Belfast Magistrates Court again on Monday so he can provide an alternative address outside north Belfast for a full bail application.
Adjourning the hearing, District Judge Bernadette Kelly said: "I have seen some neighbourhood disputes in my time but never seen one that allegedly involved explosive substances."
