A man has been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder after a car hit several people on a busy shopping street in West London.

Five people were injured, with three taken to hospital, following the incident on Ealing Broadway at around 14:30 BST on Saturday.

None of the injuries were believed to be life-threatening.

The Metropolitan Police said a 34-year-old Somali-born driver fled the scene but was stopped in nearby Grange Park a short time later, where he was arrested on suspicion of dangerous driving and attempted murder.

While counter-terrorism police were involved in the initial investigation, it is not being treated as terror-related.

The Met said it was "keeping an open mind as to any potential motive".

Footage from the scene shared on social media showed paramedics treating people on the road as dozens of shoppers looked on.

London Ambulance Service said several crews and an air ambulance were involved in the response.

It said three patients were treated at the scene, with one then taken to a "major trauma centre", while two others were taken to a local hospital.
