A man is recovering in hospital after being found with stab wounds in a former County Durham mining village.

The 25-year-old victim was discovered after police responded to a disturbance in Alnwick Street, Horden, near Peterlee, on Saturday.

A spokesman for Durham Police said the injured man was taken to Sunderland Royal Hospital, where his condition is described as comfortable.

A 25-year-old man was arrested at the scene and is being questioned.
