Man charged after gun found in Manchester street
A 22-year-old man has been charged by police following the discovery of a gun and ammunition in a Manchester street.
It follows an incident in which a man was allegedly chased by an armed man in Moss Side on Friday night, police said.
Officers were called to the scene where they made an arrest. They later discovered a gun and ammunition in Binstead Walk, Longsight.
The man, from Gorton, was charged with possessing a firearm and ammunition, and doing so while prohibited.
He is due to appear at Manchester City Magistrates' Court on 7 June.
Det Ch Insp Steve Eckersley said: "It is always extremely pleasing when we are able to recover a gun and ammunition because any weapon seized by us is one less for criminals to use and helps us in our ultimate ambition, which is gun-free streets.
"At this time we have not been able to identify any victim of an assault and I would ask anyone who was in the area at the time or even the person himself who may have been attacked to come forward."
