A Liverpool man has been arrested and charged with a sex attack on a 10-year-old girl in Lancashire.

Kevin Holmes, 28, from Crosby has been charged with kidnap and rape.

Lancashire Police launched an investigation after the girl was taken from Martindale Avenue in Fleetwood on 9 May.

Detectives said the accused was arrested on Friday and will appear before Wyre Magistrates' Court on Monday.

The girl and her family are continuing to receive support from specialist officers, said a Lancashire Police spokesman.
