A man has died in a flat above a newsagents shop after a "severe fire" in the early hours of Sunday morning.
North Wales Fire Service were called out to the property in Caernarfon just after 0240 BST on Sunday morning.
Firefighters rescued two women and a middle-aged man from the property, but the man died from his injuries at the scene.
Fire officers remain at the site in Pool Street carrying out investigations into the cause of the blaze.
The two women were suffering from shock and slight smoke inhalation. The man's identitiy has not yet been confirmed by police.
North Wales Police said it was not being treated as suspicious.
Tony Matthews, the fire service operations manager at the scene, said: "On arrival we were met with a severe fire in a first floor flat.
"Fire crews entered and the fire was quickly dealt with. A male casualty was recovered, but unfortunately died of his injuries.
"We are investigating the cause and our thoughts are with the family and friends of the casualty at this tragic time.
"I appeal for any witness to the fire to come forward to help us with our investigation."
Meanwhile, fire officers have praised the quick-thinking of two passers-by, who helped save a woman who slept through a smoke alarm during a fire at her home in Gwynedd.
North Wales Fire and Rescue say the woman had been drinking and left cooking unattended in Y Felinheli in the early hours of Saturday.
A spokesman said the two men called fire crews, who woke the woman, still asleep upstairs, and put out the fire.
