A man has been arrested after a 36-year-old died and two other people were wounded in a shooting in east London.

Police say the three men had been at the Sugar Lounge nightclub in Newham, prior to the shooting on Saturday.

Patrick Ford of Tottenham, north London, died at the scene. He had been shot in the chest.

A man in his 20s was arrested on Sunday on suspicion of murder and attempted murder.

Emergency services found two men with gunshot wounds when they arrived at the scene. One man was pronounced dead at the scene at about 0700 BST.

A third man later presented himself at an east London hospital, also suffering gunshot injuries.The two surviving men remain in hospital. One aged 27 is said to be in a critical condtion the other 26-year-old is said to be serious but stable.

Det Insp Steve Horsley said: "I am particularly keen to speak to anyone who was in the Sugar Lounge nightclub in the early hours of Saturday.

"The information gathered so far suggests the three men were at this club prior to the incident and it is vital we piece together the events leading up to the shooting."
