A man has been arrested in connection with the death of an elderly woman at her home on the Isle of Bute.
Emergency services were called to a report of a woman seriously injured at Broadcroft Lane, Rothesay, at about 1330 BST on Saturday.
Strathclyde Police said 73-year-old Mary McNeil, known locally as Moira, was found dead at the scene.
A 39-year old man has been arrested and is being held in custody. A report will be sent to the procurator fiscal.
The man is expected to appear in court on Monday.
