A man from Wellingborough has appeared in court charged with killing a father, who was attacked outside a bar.

Stuart Nathan Martin, 28, of Wellingborough, was attacked near Bar Life in the town early on Saturday. He later died in hospital.

Kevin Strong, 23, of Newton Road, Little Irchester, appeared before Wellingborough magistrates on Tuesday charged with manslaughter.

He was remanded in custody to appear at Northampton Crown Court on 9 July.

A second man, aged 23, arrested in connection with the death, has been released on police bail.

Witnesses and people who were in the area around Commercial Way at about 0340 BST are asked to contact Northamptonshire Police.

The family of Mr Martin paid tribute to him in a statement which said: "Stuart was a devoted fiancé and the most loving of daddys to his precious daughter, aged four.

"A family man with a heart of gold, who would do anything for anyone, he has left behind a family who adored him. His wonderful mum, his sister and brother."
