A 21-year-old man who died after being hit by a car in south Ayrshire has been named by police.

Stefan Clark, from Mossblown, was struck by a Chevrolet Kalos travelling eastbound in the town's Mauchline Road.

Strathclyde Police have begun an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the incident, which happened at about 2350 BST on Friday.

The force has appealed for witnesses to come forward. A report is being submitted to the procurator fiscal.
