The suspect showed identity likened to a "sheriff's badge"

A man who pretended to be a police officer investigating a robbery is being sought by police in Surrey.

He told the 81-year-old resident of the property in the Bellfields area that he had detained a man, then showed her an identity card "like a sheriff's badge".

Police have an e-fit image of the man, thought to be aged in his 20s. He had a "weathered" appearance and short, mousey blond hair.

At the time of the incident he was wearing a brown, long-sleeved jumper with black trousers and black shoes.

Det Con James West said he was hoping the e-fit would jog people's memories and prompt someone to come forward with information on the incident, which happened just before 1900 BST on 7 June.

In a separate incident on the same day, a 93-year-old woman in Woking was also visited by men claiming to be police.

The two bogus callers called at her house in Goldsworth Park, sometime between 1630 and 1730 BST, claiming they had received a report of a shadowy figure in front of her windows.

The bogus callers told the resident they had stopped a man carrying a large amount of money and were trying to find who owned the cash.

The suspects then asked the woman if she had any money and asked to go inside. The householder refused and closed the door.

Both suspects were described as being white and middle-aged.

The offender who spoke to the woman had grey fluffy hair and wore dark clothes. The second suspect was described as wearing casual clothes.
