Two men injured during a fight between knife-wielding gangs in Manchester's Chinatown are under arrest in hospital.

Up to 20 men from the city's Chinese community clashed on the streets in a series of fights early on Wednesday.

Detectives have now arrested ten men, aged between 21 and 32, on suspicion of violent disorder during their inquiry.

Six men were stabbed during the disturbances and three of them, aged 25, 26 and 32, remain in a serious but stable condition.

The 32-year-old was previously said to be critical but his condition has now improved slightly.

Greater Manchester Police have sought to reassure the community that the stabbings were gang-related and not random attacks.

Patrols were increased in the area and a mobile police station has been set up.
