Martin Welcomes The Members

Martin welcomes the members of Quartetto Gelato (jel-LAH-toh) back to NPR for a live appearance in Studio 4A. In March, the Canadian group was named Debut Artist of the Year in the first Performance Today Awards, recognizing the strong impression the players made in their first PT appearance last September. For both our radio and studio audiences, the quartet will use a variety of instruments—and voice—to perform "Espagna Capriccioso" by group member Claudio Vena, the Rondo from the Oboe Quartet in B-flat by Johann Christian Bach, "Catari! Catari!" by Salvatore Cardillo, Entr'acte by Jacques Ibert (zhahk ee-BAIR), the traditional "O Waly Waly" and "Tango del Cuore" by Nunzio Petruzelli. (NPR)
