Martin welcomes to NPR's Studio 4A a young artist who's been tabbed "the next great cellist of the 21st century," German cellist Alban Gerhardt, winner of the 1993 Leonard Rose competition at the University of Maryland, and tapped as a Young Concert Artists prizewinner. With pianist Rina Dokshinsky, he plays the Cello Sonata No. 1 in E minor by Johannes Brahms, Mstislav Rostropovich's arrangement of "Clair de Lune" by Debussy, and to begin, "Requeibros" by Gaspar Cassado.
