Meghan Markle is said to have faced “a lot of sadness” over the way her family’s trip to the UK unfolded, a source has claimed. The Duke and Duchess of Sussex visited Britain in July and were reunited with the King and Queen who were able to see their grandchildren in the flesh for the first time since 2022.

However the trip was marred in difficulty in the lead up due to concerns over the family’s security arrangements which ultimately led to Meghan and her children staying away from public events. Ultimately, Prince Harry traveled to London ahead of his wife and children for a series of engagements, before the reunion with his father at Highgrove House in Gloucestershire on July 10. A source told People that “there's a lot of sadness,” over how the trip unfolded, while another claimed that the Duchess would have felt "humiliated” as she saw the public and private furore erupt in the lead up to the trip.

Through fear of feeling like an "outcast" among relatives, Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor has reportedly turned down King Charles' invite to Balmoral this summer. According to a friend of the ex-Duke of York, Andrew "feels he's been abandoned".

"He feels like he is no longer part of the family," they added, according to The Sun. “He was invited but has got no great desire to be at Balmoral as he has nothing to gain and would be treated as an outcast. What’s the point, he feels, of going all the way there for a much-needed holiday and being treated as an elephant in the room?” It comes amid reports that King Charles has not seen his eldest brother at all this year, despite regularly staying only a mile away from him.

The Express has approached Buckingham Palace for comment.

The King’s summer holiday has officially got under way, after he received a formal welcome to Balmoral Castle this morning. The small ceremony outside the Castle Gates saw Charles inspect a Guard of Honour before observing a performance from the pipes and drums in a display of pageantry. The King also greeted the Regiment’s mascot before stopping to undertake a walkabout, stopping to greet locals and tourists who had lined the barriers.

The ceremony today marked the start of Charles’s summer residency at the Aberdeenshire castle, though he has been in Scotland for several weeks and attended a private church service at Crathie Kirk on Sunday.

The King and Queen are expected to stay at the Royal Deeside estate until the end of September as they enjoy some quiet respite from official engagements. The couple have been nonstop in recent months and not long ago spent an exhausting few days in the US for an official state visit.

Princess Eugenie has welcomed her first daughter into the world with a name steeped in history, family and sentiment, but amid all those carefully chosen tributes, there is one rather awkward omission staring us squarely in the face. The 36-year-old announced that she and her husband Jack Brooksbank have named their newborn daughter Adelaide Elizabeth Annina Brooksbank, revealing the name two weeks after their little girl was born in Lisbon, Portugal, on August 3.

And this was not simply a case of Eugenie and Jack picking three names because they sounded pretty together, as the Princess made a point of explaining that their daughter was “named after three people we love and admire past and present”. Elizabeth provides the touching and unmistakable nod to Eugenie’s late grandmother Queen Elizabeth II, while Adelaide carries links to both Portuguese and royal history - the two countries Eugenie herself said the family “love and call home”.

Prince William and Prince Harry may have shared a usual brotherly bond growing up, but that has not been the case over the last few years. This is because tensions have existed between the brothers for some time, with the pair having not been on talking terms for a few years.

It is believed the final straw in their relationship was when Harry published his memoir Spare in 2023, specifically detailing an argument that he had with William. Since then, William and Harry have hardly crossed paths, with reports suggesting they no longer talk to one another. It is believed that this could change next year when it will be the 30th anniversary of their mother Princess Diana’s death, with many royal fans awaiting to see what will happen.

Duchess Sophie is set to make a surprise radio appearance tomorrow to celebrate 10 years since Team GB women’s hockey team won gold at the Rio Olympics. On Tuesday, a teaser clip of the pre-recorded radio conversation on BBC Radio 5 Live was shared, showing the duchess recalling her memory of watching the final.

Prince Edward’s wife has recalled how she watched this on the TV in Balmoral with the late Queen Elizabeth II and Prince Philip. It is believed she was very close with her mother-in-law and father-in-law. It is also believed that she would have been enjoying a summer holiday at Balmoral Castle at the time - something the royals do every summer.

A former air steward has revealed the details about Princess Catherine and Prince William's peculiar travel regulation, just before their rumoured forthcoming visit to India.

As senior members of the Royal Family, the Prince and Princess of Wales, both 44, must comply with stringent flight procedures. Yet Catherine and William also observe one specific regulation that pertains solely to them, according to former British Airways cabin crew member and ex-reality TV star Helena Ford, who witnessed the pair directly while helping them prior to jetting off to the popular reality programme's villa in Majorca.

Ford's disclosures regarding the Waleses' royal travel protocols emerge alongside speculation that Catherine might accompany her husband at the 2026 Earthshot Prize ceremony in India this November.

Ford told Made in Chelsea star Olivia Bentley on the Private Parts podcast, per Hello!, "I think there is a thing in place where they can't fly in the highest cabin, so if there's a first class, they have to sit in business, and if there isn't a first class, they have to sit in Traveler Plus."

Prince William reportedly only has one focus now as the next in line to the throne. The royal is allegedly focused on certain members of his family and is seemingly less concerned about patching things up with his brother, Prince Harry.

Speaking to the Daily Mail, Phil Dampier, author of Royally Suited: Harry and Meghan in their own words, says: “Friends tell me that, as far as he is concerned, Harry is the past, and he is only concerned about the future for his wife Catherine and their children George, Charlotte and Louis.” A recent poll by YouGov revealed that Prince William is the favourite royal, and royal fans are already taking guesses about what he will be like as king.

Princess Anne's life at Gatcombe is very different from the royal duties fans see her carry out in public. The 76-year-old is frequently described as the "hardest working royal", thanks to her many public engagements over the years.

Away from the spotlight however, experts, as well as one of her famous neighbours, say the Princess Royal enjoys a much quieter life on her 500-acre estate in Gloucestershire.

Speaking to us recently, Laurence Llewelyn-Bowen revealed he often sees King Charles' sister in a much more relaxed setting as he opened up about life in the Cotswolds.

The Princess Royal is known to favour a more ordinary mode of transport and has been spotted by him at their local railway station, Kemble, on many occasions.

TalkTV presenter Kevin O'Sullivan addressed Prince Harry and Meghan Markle's latest on-screen debut. The couple executive produced the documentary Cookie Queens which failed to make a mark at the box office and has been dubbed a commercial flop. The broadcaster claimed the move would have tarnished their royal reputation in Hollywood. He commented, "In Hollywood, you are as successful as your last film. If your last film was a success you're a success, but if you last film was a flop then you're in trouble."

Kevin continued: "Basically, this was their first ever big film release. The first film they produced onto the big screens. It was a disaster. What should they do now?" He suggested this "mega flop will taint their reputation in tinseltown". Royal expert Kinsey Schofield advised the Sussexes disappear for awhile from a professional standpoint.

"I also stressed that Meghan is trying to be too many things to too many people at once," she mused, "and if you are trying to be a podcast host, a lifestyle guru, a chef, her calligraphy. She wants to be the world's best mum."

King Charles has been officially welcomed to Balmoral Castle with a small ceremony outside the Castle gates. A display of pageantry greeted the monarch as he marked the start of his annual summer break in Scotland, with a new special touch added to the traditional ceremony.

The King, who is Colonel in Chief of the Royal Regiment of Scotland, was welcomed by a Guard of Honour provided by the Balaklava Company, 5th Battalion The Royal Regiment of Scotland. The short ceremony included a performance from the Pipes and Drums of the 2nd Battalion The Royal Regiment of Scotland (2 SCOTS).

For the first time this year, the first two members of the revived Balmoral Highlanders, something the King has re-established following its disbandment in 1936, were stationed outside the Castle's gates.

Charles, Earl Spencer has announced he has written a new book on the life of his sister, Diana, Princess of Wales. With the 30th anniversary of her tragic death approaching in August 2027, the Earl has recorded his personal feelings on paper for the first time.

Swan Song: Diana, My Sister, set for hardback release next month on September 22, charts Diana's ups and downs from a brother’s perspective. The description of the book reads: "In September 1997, Charles Spencer stood in Westminster Abbey before a watching world and shared his grief at losing his beloved sister, Diana, in a eulogy that was judged to be one of the great speeches of the twentieth century. Now, nearly thirty years later, he tells the astonishing story of his life with Diana and the tragic week of her death."
