Meghan Markle has been given strict instructions on how to win the UK back. Meghan and Prince Harry are moving back to the UK, to a private, non-royal residence outside London, as they plan for their children, Prince Archie, seven, and Princess Lilibet, five, to start at school in September. The pair are said to be looking for a home near Princess Diana's resting place at Althorp and King Charles's Highgrove home in Gloucestershire.

The Daily Express previously revealed that Harry and Meghan had brought together a team made up of close confidants and crisis PRs in a plot to try and win the UK back over when they came to the UK for the Invictus Games. Meghan was said to have been frustrated with the PR advice she received following her and Harry's exit from the Royal Family, and she and Harry have both realised sharing so many private family matters was not the way to go.

Tensions between them and the royals escalated when Meghan accused a member of the family of having "concerns" about the colour of Prince Archie's skin. The pair then disclosed a number of private details about the royals in a bombshell Netflix series, and Harry also spoke out in his memoir Spare. He and William are said to have not spoken since 2022.

Prince William was said to be "furious" at the news that Meghan and Harry will be returning to the UK, and a source told the Mirror that he and Kate have said "want no part" in any Sussex drama.

A source close to the couple told Daily Express: "Meghan knows she's going to have to eat a bit of humble pie in the UK. She's been told this is her time to step back and let Harry do the talking, as after all, this is his home, and he is the star here."

The couple are said to be remaining hopeful that this could be a fresh start with the public and the royals once they're actually in the country.

Meghan is said to be given what seems to be a three-step plan for winning the UK back, and the first step may well be the hardest.

"Harry and Meghan know that there will never be a way back into the royal fold unless they can make things better with William and Kate, so that would be the ideal first step.

"But she has also been urged to show humility and stay out of the spotlight while in the UK, and to try and make some real UK friends who can be a support to them during their time here."

This will be the first time the family will be in the UK together since Meghan and Harry announced they were stepping back as senior royals and moving to the US.

The announcement that they are moving back has already sparked backlash, with Meghan's reported offer to star in Netflix series The Gentlemen withdrawn after bosses saw the public reaction.
