Memorial for fallen 40 Commando Royal Marine

People in the village of Norton Fitzwarren in Somerset have paid tribute to a Royal Marine who was killed in Afghanistan.

Anthony Hotine is the fifth marine from 40 Commando, which is based in the village, to die during the unit's deployment, which started in April.

Colleagues and friends joined villagers to remember the 21-year-old, who was born in Devon and lived in Wiltshire.

The memorial service was held at All Saints Church on Thursday evening.

Marine Hotine died on 2 June in an explosion in Sangin, Helmand, while on foot patrol with Afghan National Army soldiers.

The bodies of Marine Hotine, Cpl Terry Webster, 24, of Chester, and L/Cpl Alan Cochrane, 23, from Denbighshire in north Wales, were repatriated earlier in the day.

Cpl Webster and L/Cpl Cochran served in 1st Battalion The Mercian Regiment.
