Michael Carrese (cah-REES), of WMHT, Schenectady reports on the controversy surrounding New York Governor George Pataki and pianist Vladimir Feltsman. Last month Governor Pataki alleged that Feltsman's salary of $101,000 a year as Professor of Music at New Paltz College was "wrong, absolutely wrong." Feltsman and faculty and students at New Paltz say it's more complicated than that, but the debate about what value a major artist brings to an academic community raises questions with important ramifications as the State Universities of New York face substantial budget cuts.
