Plans for four wind turbines on the shores of Milford Haven have been backed by county councillors in Pembrokeshire.

The county council's planning committee voted in favour of the wind farm in an industrialised area known as Wear Point.

Pembrokeshire Friends of the Earth said they would provide enough electricity for about 5,000 homes.

It was recommended for approval and backed by nine votes to eight.

A Pembrokeshire Friends of the Earth spokesman said: "Wear Point is an already industrialised landscape where the wind turbines will provide a clean source of electricity for around 5,000 homes.

"It will also be a boost to the development of the green economy in Pembrokeshire and make an important contribution to the disappointingly small amount of electricity generated from renewable sources in the county."
