More than 250 antisocial behaviour warnings issued in Kent

More than 250 community protection warnings (CPWs) and notices (CPNs) have been issued so far in 2026 to tackle anti-social behaviour in Kent, police say.

Kent Police said nuisance motorists, people drinking on the street, shoplifters and people who encouraged mass gatherings on social media were among those to have received formal letters.

The force added that 66 arrests had also been made in connection with anti-social behaviour in 2026.

Supt Rob Marsh said CPWs and CPNs gave "persistent troublemakers" the chance to address their behaviour and potentially avoid criminal action, but those that chose to ignore them could be brought to court and fined £2,500 for the breach.

Police said a man was arrested following after a beach fight in Margate on 24 June and was banned from Thanet for the summer with a CPW.

On 17 June, a 53-year-old man was also arrested and charged in Chatham for breaching a CPN for drinking in public, the force added.

Marsh said: "We won't tolerate anti-social behaviour and will use all available powers to tackle it."
