Many homeowners struggle to clean their oven racks due to their size and shape. Luckily, Mrs Hinch fans know a 'weird' cleaning method that does the trick and requires minimal scrubbing.

Social media users praised the tip online after a cleaning enthusiast took to a Facebook page to ask for help solving a common dilemma. Posting on the Facebook group 'Mrs Hinch Cleaning Tips', the homeowner asked people in the group: "What's the best way to clean oven racks without soaking?"

The post explained: "I don't have a bath and the sink isn't big enough to soak. I don't have anything big enough to soak them in unless I go and buy a big plastic storage bin tomorrow." However, social media users insisted they wouldn't need to buy a bin.

Replying to the question, someone answered: "I had a dear old friend who swore by leaving hers out on the grass in the rain and they were always sparkling." A second viewer suggested a similar method.

They wrote: "Weird but true, place them on the grass overnight. It works! I’ve tried this when the grass was green and fairly long but it will probably not work at the moment with the grass being so burnt and dry!"

A commenter agreed: "A long soak in the morning dew…. We used to do this to our BBQ racks." Another reply said: "Nancy Birtwhistle says this in her books."

Nancy Birtwhistle, best known as an author and winner of The Great British Bake Off, previously shared the same method in an Instagram post, explaining that she leaves the tray in the garden overnight, then easily wipes away the baked-on food the next morning. Anyone using the tip should be careful and wait until the rack is completely cool before handling it and carrying it to the garden.

She also shared another method for those without gardens. Nancy said: "If you don't have any grass, we can do it overnight in the sink." In her demonstration, Nancy added three to four large scoops of washing soda to her sink along with hot water.

"Now if you are thinking I haven't got a sink this big, I have followers that have used a wheelbarrow or got a large plastic box, big enough to hold the shelf. Once it's submerged, Leave it to soak overnight," she added.

The video delighted viewers. The post gained over 20k likes. Someone jokingly asked: "What is this grass sorcery?" Someone else said: "Stop it!! This is great - I had no ideas these method would work. Will do these overnight." Another fan commented: "Oh wow, they're out on the grass tonight! Thanks."
