A man has been killed in a shooting outside a popular South London pub, with Metropolitan Police officers rushing to the scene and launching a murder investigation.

Officers were called to The Landor pub on Willington Road, Clapham, just before 10pm on Monday.

Despite the best efforts of paramedics, a 25-year-old man was pronounced dead at the scene.

Now, witnesses told GB News about their shock at the scene outside the pub.

Grace, a nearby resident, told the People's Channel: "I heard around four to five popping noises in quick succession while I was reversing my car on Tasman Road at around 9.57pm.

"I turned into Landor Road and saw someone on a moped on the wrong side of the road who then moved over onto the right side as I turned to drive along the road.

"I then see three people bent over, running for safety in The Landor pub.

"At which point a car pulls up to turn out of Willington Road, which I believe was a white BMW."

Another local told Britain's News Channel: "There was a large police presence late into the night and this morning the area was still completely cordoned off; local residents all came out of there houses to find out what had happened last night

"I saw about 10 police cars and five ambulances all come past in a very quick succession."

Scotland Yard has now confirmed, shortly after the shooting, a man attended hospital with a gunshot wound.

The man, aged 22, has been arrested on suspicion of murder. He remains in hospital.

Detective Chief Superintendent Emma Bond, Central South Borough Commander said: "We understand that incident will cause concern within the local community and an increased police presence will remain in the area throughout the day as our enquiries continue.

"Our thoughts remain with the victim’s family for their tragic loss.

"Officers have arrested a man on suspicion of murder, and we are working tirelessly to establish what happened.

"We are asking anyone with information or anyone who may have witnessed the shooting to please contact us as soon as possible and support the ongoing investigation."

Anyone who witnessed this incident or has information is encouraged to contact the Met Police on 101 quoting reference 8379/10AUG.
