Nat Fraser to make new appeal against murder conviction

Nat Fraser, found guilty of murdering his wife Arlene in Elgin 12 years ago, is to challenge his conviction at the Supreme Court in London.

He was jailed for a minimum of 25 years but has always maintained his innocence.

Fraser was convicted of getting a hitman to kill his wife and then disposing of the body himself.

He lost an appeal two years ago and an attempt to take the case to the Privy Council was rejected.

Fraser's Glasgow-based lawyer confirmed that, having exhausted all means of challenging the verdict in the Scottish Courts, he has now approached the UK Supreme Court and has been granted special leave to appeal.
