New 50p coin celebrates 100 years of the Grand Prix in Britain

A new 50p coin celebrating 100 years of the Grand Prix in Britain has been launched.
The coin, which captures the history of the Grand Prix, is the first coin by The Royal Mint to feature motorsport.
It joins the latest coins celebrating milestones this year, such as 100 years of Winnie the Pooh and 25 years of The Lord of the Rings.
The coin aims to show how Grand Prix has changed over time.
Its "tails" side shows an historic racing car from the original 1926 Brooklands race alongside a 2026 Formula 1 car.
Rebecca Morgan, director at The Royal Mint, said: "For 100 years, the Grand Prix in Britain has captured the nation's imagination, from the thundering engines at Brooklands to the wheel-to-wheel battles at Silverstone.
"It is the first time in The Royal Mint's history that motorsport has been celebrated on a UK coin, and we couldn't be prouder to mark such a momentous centenary in this way."
The new Royal Mint coin goes on sale on 29 June on the Royal Mint Website.
There are a range of types of the coin, including some in colour.
Prices range from £15, all the way up to £2,420 for a gold version of the coin.
