A deadline for Guernsey boat owners to give their views on marine fuel prices has been extended to 30 June.

Guernsey's government is asking whether people think that the rate of duty on marine petrol should remain less than the rate for road vehicle petrol.

Duty on marine petrol is 21.8p a litre if from an island customs-approved trader while motorists pay 37p duty a litre.

Marine diesel is currently exempt from any duty.

Some States members consider that if there are sound environmental, social and financial reasons for increasing duty on motor fuel, then that should equally apply to boat owners.
