New Doncaster council chief appointed CBE

The newly-appointed interim chief executive of Doncaster Council has become a CBE in the Queen's Birthday Honours List.

Robert Vincent, who is currently the chief executive of Kirklees Council in West Yorkshire, receives the honour for his services to local government.

Other honours include an MBE for a retired South Yorkshire police constable for his 29-year service.

And the chair of the Sheffield Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust becomes a CBE.

Mr Vincent takes up his role at Doncaster Council on 1 July.

Former police constable Peter Hartshorne becomes an MBE for services to South Yorkshire Police.

The force said said the honour was in recognition of his work with the Hexthorpe community in Doncaster, which included running discos for schools and community centres.

David Stone, chairman of Sheffield Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, is appointed CBE for his service to healthcare.

Mr Stone, who has held the post since 2001, said he felt "truly honoured" to receive the award.

"I see it mainly as further recognition of the success of Sheffield Teaching Hospitals and its wonderful staff with whom I have had the privilege to work alongside for many years."
