New Pinderfields Hospital in Wakefield opens
The new Pinderfields Hospital in Wakefield has opened its doors to its first patients.
Children's outpatient services have started at the £250m hospital, which includes purpose-built consultancy and treatment rooms.
Medical staff, including physiotherapists and consultants now work in the same area, making visits easier for patients.
Other services at the hospital are expected to open over the summer.
Joanne Kendall's five-year-old son Joshua, who has cerebral palsy quadriplegia, is a regular patient at the hospital.
"It's fantastic. To have it all in one area is just amazing - it makes such a great difference to Joshua and I," she told BBC Look North.
Physiotherapist Laura Lightfoot said: "It's absolutely fantastic. We have got so much more space and the rooms we have got are amazing. I think it is really going to enhance patient care."
The hospital has been built on the existing site. Other facilities include single rooms or four-bedded wards with en suites and landscape garden areas.
