A conference is to be held to give residents an update on a Berkshire town's multi-million pound revamp.

West Berkshire Council's Newbury Vision 2025 aims to create a number of "quarters" across the town.

It includes a £500,000 upgrade of the town centre and the £130m Parkway development, involving 64 new shops, a department store and new homes.

The public meeting, where residents can question officials, will be held at the Corn Exchange from 0915 BST on Tuesday.

The council said: "The conference aims to set out how improvements to Newbury town centre are progressing and what is planned for the future.

"Among the topics that will be covered are an update on proposals for the Wharf area, a presentation on traffic management and how best to promote Newbury as a destination for visitors and shoppers."

Projects already completed as part of the 2025 project include improvements to Bartholomew Street and upgrading Market Place and Northbrook Street.
