NHS funds nurse care at children's hospice in Norfolk

A charity which cares for terminally ill children in Norfolk has been given money from the NHS to pay for a 24-hour call-out nursing service.

East Anglia's Children's Hospices (EACH) in Quidenham supports more than 100 families and had already offered an advice line to parents and carers.

The £94,000 has paid for nurses to care for children in their own homes.

The hospice said it hoped to ease any anxiety parents may feel for their children during weekends and nights.

Head of palliative care services Julia Shirtliffe added: "To get somebody to come to the home who knows a child, has knowledge of their symptoms and can answer questions is really valuable to them.

"They can of course choose for their child to come to the hospice to die but a lot of families do want that last time at home, with support."
