Love was in the air during the first round of Wimbledon on Monday.

After Novak Djokovic won the first set of his opening match against Wu Yibing, a fan in the crowd at Center Court proposed to his girlfriend.

Djokovic took notice of the sweet moment.

Upon returning to the court for the second set, Djokovic made a heart gesture towards the couple, gave them two thumbs up and asked to be included in the nuptials.

“I want an invitation for the wedding,” Djokovic shouted out with a grin.

The couple returned the thumbs up, beaming.

Djokovic, the seventh seed, ended up winning that match 6-4, 5-7, 6-4, 6-4 to advance to the second round at the All England Club.

He’s a seven-time champion at Wimbledon, with his most recent title four years ago in 2022.

Djokovic, 39, holds 24 Grand Slam singles titles, a record amongst male players.

Should he claim his 25th Slam title before retirement, he would hold the record for both men and women, surpassing Margaret Court’s 24 titles. Djokovic is now one of the oldest players remaining on the tour, having turned 39 in May.

Djokovic is also one Wimbledon title away from tying Roger Federer for the most by a man in history.

His path is slightly clearer than it has been in previous years, since two-time Wimbledon champion Carlos Alcaraz is sidelined with injury at this year’s tournament.

Next up, Djokovic will face Stefanos Tsitsipas in the second round on Wednesday. He boasts a dominant 12-2 match record against Tsitsipas.
