One of critic Tim Page's most highly-recommended books of the year is Volume Two of "Strong on Music," the New York diaries of George Templeton Strong, edited and extensively annotated by Very Brodsky Lawrence. Volume Two is titled "Reverberations: 1850-1856," and a number of entries are devoted to America's musical superstar of the era: pianist and composer Louis Moreau Gottschalk. We'll hear the piano, four hands, duo of Jean and Kenneth Wentworth play Gottschalk's "Drums and Cannon" military polka, from a concert recorded in Gottschalk's home town of New Orleans, LA.
