A bride spent her wedding night in a tent to allow her husband to take part in a 24-hour mountain bike endurance event.

Nigel Moore, 47, and his wife Alison, 49, dashed from their wedding in Staffordshire to the Original Source Mountain Mayhem event in Herefordshire.

The couple, from Biddulph, Staffs, had brought forward their wedding because of a sick relative.

Hundreds of riders took part in the event at Eastnor Castle, near Ledbury.

Mrs Moore said: "It's been an absolutely fabulous weekend and one we will always remember.

"Some people may think I'm crazy to allow my wedding to be taken over by a mountain bike event, but I know it's Nigel's passion and I just wanted to support him."

Mr Moore, who has competed in the event for the past seven years, explained: "We had to bring the wedding forward as a relative is seriously ill.

"I'd resigned myself to not being able to take part this year, but then Alison insisted I must go ahead as she knew how much it meant to me. I'm a very lucky man!"
