Parish council 'may adopt' Dawley Hollywood-style sign
An illegal "Hollywood-style" sign above a town in Shropshire should be adopted by the council, it is claimed.
The 4ft (1.2m) high Dawley sign was put up without planning permission in Paddock Mount over the May Bank Holiday.
Telford & Wrekin Council said it had been done in a "light-hearted spirit" and could stay up temporarily.
Great Dawley Parish Council said the sign had "won residents over" and should stay.
Parish chairman Kuldip Sahota said: "The sign has certainly won the hearts and minds of a great many people in our town."
He plans to propose that the parish adopts the sign, maintains it and finds an alternative open space to display it in when Telford & Wrekin Council order its removal.
Mr Sahota said he was also interested in seeing whether the "Dawley" lettering could be incorporated into the parish logo.
