Police have come under attack with petrol bombs and paint during a disturbance in west Belfast.

The trouble started with rival gangs throwing stones in the Ballygomartin Road area at 1730 BST.

No PSNI officers were injured but damaged was caused to two police vehicles.

Community leaders helped bring the situation under control. Two teenagers, aged, 19 and 16, have been arrested.

It is understood between 20 and 30 youths were involved in the trouble.

A barricade which was erected during the disturbance was dismantled by police.
