Pianist Leon Fleisher, forced to abandon his two-handed piano career years ago after sustaining damage to his right hand, recently has devoted an entire CD to works for the left-hand alone, mostly by composers also affected by hand problems. We'll hear Fleisher play an Etude in A-flat, Op. 36, by Russian composer Felix Blumenfeld (1863-1931), one of Vladimir Horowitz's teachers. Blumenfeld was paralyzed on one side of his body but still continued to perform. (Sony Classical SK 48081)
