A pillion passenger has died and a rider was seriously injured in a motorbike crash in North Yorkshire.
Police said a Suzuki motorcycle and a Audi A4 were in collision on the A171 near Scaling Dam on the way to Whitby at about 1845 BST on Thursday.
The 48-year-old female passenger from Guisborough was taken by air ambulance to Scarborough General Hospital where she was pronounced dead.
The male rider was taken to hospital with serious leg injuries.
A police spokesman said the four occupants of the Audi were unhurt.
Officers are appealing for witnesses and want to trace the drivers of a number of vehicles that were following the Audi and were passed by the motorbike near the time of the collision.
